One of the most iconic moments in golf that has become known as "The Concession" - American golf legend Jack Nicklaus sportingly concedes a tricky 3-foot putt on the final green to British golfing hero and 1969 Open Champion Tony Jacklin. The conceded putt meant the 1969 Ryder Cup held at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport ended in a tie. Jack Nicklaus reportedly told Tony Jacklin "I don't think you would have missed it, but I wasn't going to give you the chance, either." It was the first tie in the history of the competition.
