Ian Poulter has won numerous European Tour titles and has finished in the top 10 in majors on 3 occasions, including runner up in the 2008 British Open at Birkdale. However it is his phenomenal success in the matchplay format that he is best known. He won his first World Golf Championship in 2010 at the Accenture World Matchplay in Arizona and followed this with victory in the Volvo World Matchplay in 2011. Nicknamed “The Postman” for his ability to deliver victories for Europe in the Ryder Cup matches – Ian Poulter has been integral to the Europe’s dominance in recent years – he represented Europe in 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 claiming 13 points to date.
