The 2023 Ryder Cup held at Marco Simone Golf Club on the outskirts of Rome will go down as one of the most memorable encounters in the event's history. The course was re-designed specifically for the Ryder Cup creating the perfect stage for the players to perform and for the huge crowds to enjoy the action.

Europe grabbed the initiative early in the contest, storming to a historic sweep of all 4 matches in the morning foursomes. A shell-shocked American team barely recovered and Europe built, as it transpired, an unassailable five-point lead at the end of Day 1.

Europe’s superiority over the star-studded American team continued on Day 2 and despite a recovery at the end of the afternoon fourball matches on Saturday – Europe maintained their 5-point lead going into the Final Day Singles, meaning that Europe only needed a further 4 points to regain the Ryder Cup.

An incident on the final green on Saturday involving Patrick Cantlay’s caddy and Rory McIlroy triggered some fiery scenes on and off the course late on Saturday evening and only served to further fire up both teams going in the 12 singles matches on Sunday. The USA team fought back strongly in the singles and at one stage the match standings hinted at an incredible comeback, but Europe’s big names secured the wins required to regain the trophy and maintain Europe’s winning run on home soil stretching all the way back to 1993.
