Well-known for leading the Springboks to victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup, Francois Pienaar is a South African Rugby Union legend with an impressive sporting history. Browse our extensive Francois Pienaar photo gallery today and choose from a range of prints, cavasses and wall stickers in an array of sizes.

Now retired, Francois Pienaar was one of the best flankers the Springboks have ever seen. He took to the pitch for South Africa from 1993-1996 and won 23 international caps, all of them as captain. Following South Africa’s remarkable 1995 World Cup win which saw the team beat Australia, Western Samoa and France, Nelson Mandela presented him with the Webb Ellis Cup while wearing a Springbok shirt with Pienaar’s number.

After being controversially dropped from the Springbok side in 1996, Francois Pienaar made his way to Britain where he became both a player and coach for the Saracens. Highlights of his club run included winning the Pilkington Cup and coming second in the Zurich Premiership. He also became Saracen’s CEO in 2000, stepping down in 2002.

When his rugby career came to an end, Pienaar returned to South Africa and started a family. Nelson Mandela was named godfather to both his sons. He has since been significantly involved in the rugby world, helping with South Africa’s failed bid to host the Rugby World Cup 2011. He’s also been an ITV Sport pundit during the Rugby World Cups of 2007, 2011 and 2015.

Many of Francois Pienaar’s finest career moments were caught on camera and now you could be the proud owner of a Pienaar print.
