2017 England Six Nations Team Special

A stunning collage to celebrate England’s 2017 Six Nations Championship winning campaign. By beating Scotland in the penultimate game of the Championship England joined World Champions New Zealand on a World Record 18 consecutive International Tier 1 wins.

England’s record 61-21 win over Scotland at Twickenham sealed the 2017 Six Nations Championship Title for England with a full round of matched still to play. Although England came up agonisingly short of the Grand Slam and World Record in Dublin, the 2017 performances represent continued progress under coach Eddie Jones who in 2016 guided England to their first Grand Slam since 2003.

The 2017 Six Nations also saw new stars emerge as regular players missed out through injury. Elliott Daly has grown in stature with outstanding performances in a number of positions – his most memorable moment being his last gasp try against Wales in Cardiff snatching a win when all looked lost. Joe Launchbury stepped into the shoes of missing lock George Kruis with back to back Man of the Match performances against Wales and Italy. With the Lions Tour to New Zealand in the summer of 2017 his place looks all but certain, with many experts pencilling him in to the Test team.

The partnership of George Ford at flyhalf and Owen Farrell looked increasingly assured and fluid through the championship with the 2 combining superbly in Cardiff to put Elliott Daly away to score in the corner. Other notable performances were Nathan Hughes, superbly deputising for Billy Vunipola at No.8, the continued excellence of Maro Itoje and the huge impact of all England’s replacements coming on in the final quarter and turning games with their precision, dynamism and power.
